April 27, 2010 – Mother’s Day is around the corner (May 9th!), so we’ve come up with some gift guides to help you shop for your mom.
Mom loves coffee, Mom loves tea
Locally made pottery is a great start when you’re shopping for the mom who loves to start her day with a mug of coffee or tea. Anne Pryde uses a mid-range stoneware clay to create durable functional pots that are comfortable to hold and practical for daily use. She mixes all of the glazes she uses herself to ensure they are food safe. But Anne’s pottery is so much more than durable and practical; her work is also beautiful to look at.
We carry a range of pieces by Anne, from mugs and cups to bowls to tea pots.
In addition to Anne’s work, we have cups and mugs for all tastes. You can get mom the fun shapes and patterns of Jenny Morton’s cups or diner mugs by Kyla Francis with a Halifax streetscape, instruments or a Wii remote (some mom’s like to play video games).
To go in the cup we have a yummy selection of Chai Tea spices from Purpose Design and Love, Me teas (Ginger Peach, Peppermint Patty or Morning Star).
Foodies and Entertainers
If your mom loves to cook and entertain, then you could make her a gift basket of her favourite things for the kitchen. We’re having a sale on the Purpose Design spice kits that can give some kick to a dish and look pretty on a spice rack.
Stop by Pete’s Frootique across the street for a few specialty food items, add a tea towel by Bespoke Uprising, Smoking Lily or Lines By Davis and serve it to mom in a bowl by Anne Pryde or Wendy Shirran.
